Huron Shores Area Transit (HSAT) will increase the price of its Monthly Pass from $140 to $160, effective September 1, 2026, as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining a financially sustainable rural transit system while continuing to provide affordable transportation throughout the region.
Since its launch, HSAT has expanded service, introduced new routes and seasonal services, improved bus stop infrastructure, and increased service frequency to better meet the needs of residents, workers, students, and visitors. As operating costs continue to rise, periodic fare adjustments are necessary to help support the long-term sustainability of the transit system.
Even with the increase, the Monthly Pass continues to provide exceptional value for passengers who travel regularly. Passengers making two long-distance return trips each week would pay $192 in regular fares over a four-week month, while the $160 Monthly Pass provides a savings of $32 (16.7%). Passengers making frequent local trips will also continue to benefit from significant savings compared with paying individual fares. HSAT’s Monthly Pass remains one of the most affordable among comparable rural transit systems in Ontario.
HSAT continues to provide more service than many comparable rural transit systems, operating seven days a week, including weekends and statutory holidays and operating more service hours per day, while connecting communities throughout Lambton Shores, Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, South Huron, Bluewater, Plympton-Wyoming, Sarnia, London, and Goderich.
