A Day Out With The Kids

If the kids are driving you crazy, you may need to get them out of the house for the day. Here are a few suggestions of places to go in London and Sarnia that you can get to by Huron Shores Area Transit.

We have created these trips using London Transit information. Before you head out for the day, it would be a good idea to confirm bus schedule times in case there are any changes from what we’ve published here.

Stones & Bones Museum

Getting there:

  1. Take the Route 1 bus (leaves Sobeys, Grand Bend at 9:10 am) to Lambton Mall (main bus hub).
  2. Transfer to Sarnia bus #66 “London Road Express”
  3. Get off the bus at the Bayside Terminal (George St.).
  4. Walk 2 minutes along George Street to the museum located on Christina Street. Estimated arrival time @ 11:32 am.

Returning home:

  1. Take the 5:10 pm Sarnia bus #9 “Exmouth” from Bayside Terminal to Lambton College (main bus hub).
  2. Transfer to the HSAT Route 1 bus leaving Lambton College at 5:58 pm.
  3. Arrive back at Sobeys, Grand Bend at 7:53 pm.

London Children’s Museum or The Factory at 100 Kellogg Lane

Getting there:

  1. Take the 9:10 AM Route 2 bus from Sobeys – Grand Bend, to Fanshawe Rd. E bus stop #705.
  2. Cross to the south side of Fanshawe to stop #704.
  3. Take #25 “Fanshawe College bus to Fanshawe College” getting off at stop #2914.
  4. Catch the #20 “Beaverbrook via Downtown” bus, getting off at bus stop #595 at Dundas St.
  5. Walk 5 minutes along Dundas St. E. to Kellogg Line.

Returning Home

  1. From the Museum, across the street to bus stop #554.
  2. Take the 5:38 PM London Transit Route # 02 or #2B “Natural Science via Dundas”.
  3. Get off at the Natural Sciences Centre (Western Campus), stop #1222.
  4. Walk 5 minutes along the campus pathway to the bus stop in front of University Hospital (#1817).
  5. From that stop, catch HSAT’s Route 2 bus at 6:25 PM, arriving at Sobeys – Grand Bend at 7:54 PM.

Silvercity London Cinemas

Movies start at various times beginning at noon. The last possible movie time slot would be about 4:25 pm for an average length movie.

Getting there:

  1. Take the Route 1 bus (leaves Sobeys, Grand Bend at 9:10 am) to London Transit Stop #705 (Fanshawe Park Road East, on the north side of the street near the RBC).
  2. Cross the road at the traffic lights at Fanshawe Pk. Rd. and North Centre Street to the mall.
  3. Cinema entrance is on the North Centre Street side of the mall. Arrival time @ 10:16 am.

Returning home:

  1. Walk north on North Centre Street to the traffic lights and cross to the north side of Fanshawe Pk. Rd. E. to reach London Transit stop #705.
  2. Catch the Huron Shores Area Transit bus leaving that bus stop at 6:46 pm.
  3. Arrive at Sobeys, Grand Bend at 7:53 pm.

The Rec Room

Getting there:

  1. Take the Route 1 bus (leaves Sobeys, Grand Bend at 9:10 am) to London Transit Stop #705 (Fanshawe Park Road East, on the north side of the street near the RBC).
  2. Cross the road at the traffic lights at Fanshawe Pk. Rd. and walk south on North Centre Street to the mall.
  3. Enter the mall near Shoppers Drug Mart, turn left and walk to the south west end (where Target used to be), take the escalator to the second floor.

Returning home:

  1. Walk north on North Centre Street to the traffic lights and cross to the north side of Fanshawe Pk. Rd. E. to reach London Transit stop #705.
  2. Catch the Huron Shores Area Transit bus leaving that bus stop at 6:46 pm.
  3. Arrive at Sobeys, Grand Bend at 7:53 pm.

The Factory – Lil’ Climbers

Getting there:

  1. Take the Route 1 bus (leaves Sobeys, Grand Bend at 9:10 am) to University Hospital SB Stop #1817.
  2. Walk about 5 minutes to the Natural Science Bldg. to catch the #2 bus “Argyle Mall via Hale & Trafalgar” from London Transit bus stop #1222.
  3. Take the #2 bus to Dundas at Kellogg Lane EB – #583.
  4. Walk 1 minute to 100 Kellogg Lane – The Factory entrance.

Returning home:

  1. Take the 5:48 pm #2 bus from Dundas at Dorinda Wb – stop #554 to the Natural Science Bldg. bus stop #1222.
  2. Walk about 5 minutes from the Natural Science building over to University Hospital SB stop #1817.
  3. Catch Huron Shores Area Transit bus leaving stop #1817 at 6:26 pm.
  4. Arrive Sobeys, Grand Bend at 7:53 pm.

Flying Squirrel Trampoline Park

Getting There

  1. Take the 9:10 AM Route 2 bus to University Hospital stop #1817
  2. Transfer to #13 or #13A “White Oaks Mall via Westminster Park”
  3. Get off at stop #1940 (Wellington Rd. & Exeter Rd.)
  4. Walk about 21 minutes south along Wellington Rd. S. to 4380 Wellington Rd S (beside Princess Auto)

Returning Home

  1. Around 4:50 PM, walk to Roxburgh Rd. stop #1608.
  2. Take the 4:54 PM #30 “White Oaks Mall via Wilton Grove”.
  3. Arrive 5:02 PM at White Oaks Mall Stop 1 (#2062).
  4. Walk to Stop 2 (#2061) and catch the 5:15 PM #90 “Express to Masonville Mall”.
  5. Walk to London Transit stop #705 on Fanshawe Rd. E.
  6. Take HSAT Route 2 at 6:46 PM
  7. Arrive Sobeys – Grand Bend at 7:54 PM
