SIMCOE DAY LONG WEEKEND: HSAT buses will be running as regularly scheduled on the holiday Monday.

ICYDK: The August Civic Holiday is also known as Simcoe Day after John Graves Simcoe, the first lieutenant governor of Upper Canada and founder of Toronto (then York) in 1793. Simcoe encouraged American loyalist immigration, introduced English law, and passed a law in 1793 to abolish slavery.
